Se apodan la Generación Dorada. Pero dorado tienen el
corazón. ¿Qué más se puede decir de este
equipo?. Un ejemplo de solidaridad, humildad y sacrificio. Era un partido
complicado.
They are
nicknamed the “Golden Generation”. But their hearts are golden. What more can
you say about this team?. It’s an example of solidarity, humility and sacrifice.
It was a difficult game. Because the opponent and the coach. The Brazilian
coach is Ruben Magnano, gold medal with Argentina in Athens 2004. Magnano knew
most of the members of the team and therefore posed a smart play on defense,
primarily in the paint. But Argentina, with his heart and his toughness, could
take out a hard fought match. It was 82-77 to Brazil, who did a good tournament
after his absence in the last three Olympics Games.
a despegarse a 5 (18-13).
13 puntos.
Brazil had a
clear strategy: attack and attack the rim. Argentina tried to move the ball to find
a better shooter. With 5 points made by Marcelinho Huertas, Brazil put up by 3
(12-9) at 6:02. But the scorer of the Olympic Games, Luis Scola, began to enter
the rate and with 2 consecutive doubles coming to Argentina to 1 (14-13). With
a couple of mistakes by the Argentine national team, Brazil took advantage to
pull away to 5 (18-13). But Carlos Delfino came in line with two triples, who
helped Argentina to regain the lead (18-19) at 2:54. In response to Delfino’ 3-pointers,
Marcelinho nailed two bombs and Brazil ended up the first quarter by 3 (26-23).
Barcelona’s point guard had 13 points.
Argentina.
Juan
Gutiérrez began to give returns to Lamas in the paint. Nene and Tiago were very
erratic offensively. Thus, Argentina was turning away the scoreboard to 5
(30-35) at 6:32 for the rest of the half. In addition, the Argentine’ team
started to attack the rim like the Brazilians, who was kept in play thanks to
support from Marcelinho. Argentina was held to 5 (40-45) at 2:04 thanks to a
double made by Gutiérrez. In the last two minutes of the second quarter, both
teams rotated players. In this segment, the level dropped and only scored a
point by a free throw. The first half ended with Argentina up by 6 (40-46).
alejaba a 12 a Argentina (44-56).
The Golden
Generation began the third quarter with much energy. They take a 10-point
difference (44-54) at 6:58. Argentina fit the marks on the pick-and-roll made
by Marcelinho and Nocioni-Scola tandem was defending very well Nene and Tiago.

Argentina’ attack. Thus, the game put rough and went 2:20 without scoring
teams. "Chapu" Nocioni drought and cut away at 12 to Argentina
(44-56). With a good supply of Juan Gutierrez, Argentina was going up by 10
(54-64) to last quarter.
diferencia (59-70) a 7:06.
