Jugador Más Valioso / Most Valuable Player: 

LEBRON JAMES (Miami Heat)

Aliviado por el título de la temporada pasada, este año Lebron jugó con una gran determinación y liderazgo. Con una temporada récord en rebotes (8,0) y asistencias (7,3) por juego, LeBron lanzó para un infernal 56,5% en campo y  un 40,6% en triples, también rubros con récord en su carrera. Además, desde que está en Miami esos números crecen día a día.
Finalistas: Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder), Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks).
Relieved for last season' NBA title, LeBron played this year with great determination and leadership. With a record' career in rebounds (8.1) and assists (7.3) per game, LeBron shoot for a tremendous 56.5% on field goal and 40.6% on 3-pt, also career's record. Moreover, since he's in Miami, these numbers grow every year.
Finalists: Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder), Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks).

Novato del Año / Rookie of the Year: 

DAMIAN LILLARD (Portland Trail Blazers)

Desde el comienzo de la temporada empezó a deslumbrar. Debutó contra Los Angeles Lakers con una actuación formidable: 23 puntos y 11 asistencias. Su entrenador le dio confianza desde el principio. Fue el jugador de Portland con mayor promedio de minutos en cancha. Además terminó con 19 puntos y 6,5 asistencias por juego. No se veían números similares en un novato desde Allen Iverson en la temporada 96/97.

Finalistas: Anthony Davis (New Orleans Hornets), Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards).

Since the beginning of the season, he began to dazzle. He made his debut against the Los Angeles Lakers with a tremendous performance: 23 points and 11 assists. His coach gave him confidence from the start. Lillard was the Portland’s player with the highest average minutes on court. Also, he finished with 19 points and 6.5 assists per game. There were no similar numbers in a rookie since Allen Iverson in the 96/97 season.

Entrenador del Año / Coach of the Year:

ERIK SPOELSTRA (Miami Heat)

Un entrenador que fue subestimado años anteriores. Cada vez más sereno y cerebral, Spoelstra llevó a su equipo a la segunda racha de victorias más larga de la historia: 27. Sólo detrás de los 33 triunfos de los Lakers 71/72. Además logró hacer encajar a grandes jugadores, como Ray Allen y Rashard Lewis, a roles secundarios.
Finalistas: George Karl (Denver Nuggets), Mark Jackson (Golden State Warriors).

He is a coach who was underestimated in previous years. More and more serene and cerebral, Spoelstra took his team to the second longest winning streak in history: 27. Just behind the 33 wins of the 71/72 Lakers.  He also managed to put some great players to secondary roles, like Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis.

Jugador Defensivo del Año / Defensive Player of the Year:

SERGE IBAKA (Oklahoma City Thunder)

Tiene un sólo rubro alto (3,0 tapas por partido), pero Ibaka contagia a sus compañeros cuando está en cancha. Cuando él está en la banca, el equipo rival promedia 101,3 puntos pero cuando está en cancha el rival promedia 99,2. Lo mismo pasa con los porcentajes de campo rival: 43,5% con Ibaka en la banca y 42% con Ibaka en cancha. No es el mejor año defensivo del congoléño-español pero su regularidad lo hace merecedor de este premio.
Finalistas: Marc Gasol (Memphis Grizzlies), Tony Allen (Memphis Grizzlies)

He has a high category only (3.0 blocks per game), but Ibaka contagious his teammates when he’s on court. When he’s on the bench, the opponent team averaged 101.3 points but when he’s on court the opponent average 99.2 ppp. The same goes for the field goal percentages: 43.5% with Ibaka in bench and 42% with Ibaka on court. It’s not the best year of Congolese-Spanish defense but his consistency makes him worthy of this award.

Jugador de Mayor Progreso / Most Improved Player:

GREIVIS VÁSQUEZ (New Orleans Hornets)

El venezolano progresó en todos los rubros menos en uno: porcentaje de tres puntos. Fue el 3er mejor asistidor por juego de la temporada. Con 9,0 quedó detrás de dos súperestrellas como Rondo y Paul. Además, para ser base es alto (1,98 m), por ende es difícil de defender. Terminó con 13,9 puntos por partido con un 43,3% en cancha.
Finalistas: Paul George (Indiana Pacers), Nikola Vucevic (Orlando Magic).

The Venezuelan progressed in almost all areas least 3-pt%. It was the 3rd best passer per game on the season. With 9.0 apg, he finished behind two superstars as Rondo and Paul. Moreover, to be a point guard, he is tall (6’6’’), so is difficult to defend him. He finished with 13.9 points per game with 43.3% on field goal percentage.

Finalists: Paul George (Indiana Pacers), Nikola Vucevic (Orlando Magic).

Sexto Hombre / Sixth Man:

J.R. SMITH (New York Knicks)

Fue la segunda arma ofensiva de los Knicks, detrás de Carmelo Anthony. Además de tener su mejor temporada en puntos (18,1), Smith promedió 5,3 rebotes, también récord. No le pesó la responsabilidad de tener que lanzar tiros ganadores, como en Charlotte y en Phoenix. Además, fue el reserva con más puntos por partido y el 18º en toda la liga.

Finalistas: Jamal Crawford (Los Angeles Clippers), Kevin Martin (Oklahoma City Thunder). 

He was the second offensive weapon of the Knicks, behind Carmelo Anthony. Besides having his best season in points (18.1), Smith averaged 5.3 rebounds, also a career’ record. He was’nt worry to having to throw game-winners, as in Charlotte and Phoenix. He was also the reserve with most points per game and 18th in the entire league.

LeBron se sacó un peso enorme de encima/LeBron took a huge weight off

"Este es el día más feliz de mi vida Esto es un sueño hecho realidad”, dijo LeBron James tras conseguir su primer anillo de NBA. Y así fue, LeBron había sido blanco de muchas críticas. Especialmente tras las Finales perdidas el año pasado frente a Dallas. En las Finales 2011, LeBron había promediado 17,8 puntos, 7,16 rebotes, 6,83 asistencias, 4 pérdidas y 60 % en tiros libres. Además solamente tuvo 3,3 intentos de tiro libre por partido. Pero este año progresó en todos esos rubros. En estas Finales promedió 28,6 puntos, 10,2 rebotes, 7,4 asistencias, 3,8 pérdidas y 78,2% en libres, que además aumentó a 9,2 sus intentos.

“This is the happiest day of my life. This is a dream come true”, LeBron James said after win his first NBA ring. LeBron had been the target of much criticism. Especially, after the loss of Miami against Dallas last year. In 2011 Finals, LeBron had averaged 17.8 points, 7.16 rebounds, 6.83 assists, 4 turnovers and 60% in free throws. Moreover, he only had had 3.3 free throw attempts per game. But this year LeBron progressed in all these areas. In these Finals he averaged 28.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 3.8 turnovers and 78.2% in free throws, which he also increased to 9.2 attempts.


Sin dudas LeBron pegó un gran salto de un año a otro. Y él mismo admitió ese cambio. El año pasado había jugado mas individualista pero éste año jugó para el equipo. Quizás el MVP de la temporada se lo merecía Kevin Durant. Pero muy merecido el premio de MVP de las Finales para LeBron. Fue el jugador más determinante de la serie y consiguió su primer anillo en su novena temporada en la NBA.
No doubt, LeBron hit a big jump from the last year to this year. And he admitted that change. Last year he had played more individualistic but this year he played for the team. Perhaps Kevin Durant deserved the Season MVP. But well deserved the Finals MVP award for LeBron. It was the most decisive player in the series and got his first ring in his ninth season in the NBA.

Esta final juntará a los dos mejores jugadores de la actualidad. James es tres veces MVP, incluyendo esta temporada. También será la tercera final para el alero de Miami Heat. Durant es el goleador de lás últimas tres temporadas de la NBA. Además fue el MVP del All-Star celebrado en Orlando. Para Durant es su primera aparición en las Finales de la NBA.

This final will bring together the two best players actually. James is 3-time MVP, including this season. It will also be the third NBA Final for the Miami Heat forward. Durant is the leading scorer of the last three seasons. He was the MVP of the All-Star played in Orlando. For Durant, it is the first appearance in the NBA Finals.

Previamente a esta final, LeBron James y Kevin Durant se enfrentaron 9 veces. Fueron 7 victorias para el equipo de LeBron contra 2 del equipo de Durant.  Pero desde que LeBron está en Miami se repartieron dos triunfos para cada uno. En la temporada pasada los dos equipos ganaron de visitante, en cambio este año los dos ganaron su partido como local.
