Gran actuación de los Celtics. Buena defensa y un ataque indefendible. Se puso 3-1 arriba en la serie frente a Atlanta, que parece rendido con un bajísimo nivel de sus estrellas.

Pierce lideraba a su equipo con 10 puntos y Rondo entregaba 7 asistencias. Joe Johnson llevaba 5 puntos para Atlanta.

En la previa, Chicago no debería tener problemas para eliminar a Philadelphia, ya que los Sixers han bajado muchísimo el nivel. Hasta la interrupción por el Juego de las Estrellas, Philadelphia se mantenía en la 4º posición pero tuvo una segunda mitad de temporada muy irregular con récord de 15 victorias y 17 derrotas y cayó hasta el 8º lugar. También, Chicago pudo subsistir con la ausencia de Rose y adoptó otras vías de ataque, lo que el año pasado no pudo solucionar en la Final de Conferencia frente a Miami.

Se vislumbra una serie pareja ya que Boston, líder de la división Atlántica, tuvo peor récord que Atlanta, que va a arrancar con  la localía. Los Celtics fueron de menor a mayor en la temporada. En un verdadero equipo cuando no juega uno de sus titulares no se siente mucho, y es el caso de Boston, que cuando estuvo su cuarteto completo (Rondo, Allen, Pierce y Garnett) tuvo un récord similar (20-14) a cuando no estuvo en cancha al menos uno de los cuatro (18-13). Los Hawks realizaron una muy buena temporada, teniendo en cuanta la baja de Al Horford durante gran parte de la fase regular. El futuro de Atlanta en la serie dependerá del rendimiento de sus dos goleadores, Josh Smith y Joe Johnson.

Smith y además sufrieron la lesión de la sensación de la temporada, Jeremy Lin. Miami depende mucho de su trío James-Wade-Bosh. Entre ellos tres concentran el 67,7 % de los puntos del equipo. Se prevén muy buenos duelos personales entre LeBron James y Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade y J.R. Smith y Chris Bosh y Amar'e Stoudemire.

Por su parte, Utah quiere dar pelea con su tándem Millsap-Jefferson en la zona pintada y con Gordon Hayward, jugador que ha ganado protagonismo en esta última temporada.

Serie personal: San Antonio 3-1.

Ningún jugador se destaca por encima del resto y eso es bueno para el equipo. El entrenador George Karl hace rotar mucho sus jugadores. Ty Lawson promedió esta temporada 34,8 minutos y el que menos jugó fue Julyan Stone que promedió 8,1 minutos.

Oklahoma mejoró su juego en equipo y Dallas se relajó al conseguir el título de la NBA el año pasado y tuvo una temporada irregular. Además, Oklahoma tiene un equipo muy balanceado, por un lado tiene su trío anotador (Westbrook, Harden y Durant) y por otro su dúo defensivo (Ibaka y Perkins). Dallas debe mejorar la consistencia en sus tiros para poder llevarse la serie.
