Kobe Bryant brilló una vez más en el Staples Center. Gracias a sus 38 puntos,  Los Angeles Lakers derrotaron a Denver Nuggets por 104-100 y pusieron la serie 2-0 a su favor.

Kobe Bryant shined once again at the Staples Center. Thanks to his 38 points, Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Denver Nuggets 104-100 and put the series 2-0 to their side.

Los Lakers comenzaron jugando ofensivamente en el poste bajo con Gasol y Bynum. Denver no podía defender esa dupla. Kobe Bryant se empezó a encender y romper aún más la defensa de los Nuggets. Los Angeles sacaban una diferencia de 5 (25-20). Denver se acercaba a 2 (25-27) con algunas canastas de Al Harrington. Pero Bryant con un triple a 5 segundos deja decretado el primer cuarto 32-25 arriba los Lakers. Los Angeles dominaron de principio a fin. Lo más cerca que se puso Denver fue a 1 (13-14) a 6:08 para el final del cuarto. Kobe terminó el parcial con 14 puntos. Bynum con 10 y 5 rebotes. En Denver el más destacado fue Al Harrington con 8 puntos.

Los dos equipos movieron el banco y se notó por el bajo porcentaje de campo que tuvieron en los primeros 5 minutos del parcial (30 % combinados). En Denver apareció el rookie Kenneth Faried, que terminó con 6 puntos. Danilo Gallinari y Arron Afflalo estaban muy erráticos y Denver no se podía acercar demasiado en el marcador. En los Lakers, Bynum terminó con 6 puntos en el segundo cuarto. El parcial terminó empatado en 23. Los Angeles aventajaban a los Nuggets 55-48.

Denver estaba errático y se mantenía 11 puntos abajo (92-81) a 6:54 del final del partido. Javale McGee y Kenneth Faried se empezaron a hacer dueños de la zona pintada. Además, la banca de Denver anotó 35 puntos contra los 8 de la banca de los Lakers.

Popovich, Entrenador del Año/Popovich, Coach Of the Year

Por segunda vez en su carrera, Gregg Popovich gana el premio al Entrenador del año. La otra vez fue en 2003, cuando San Antonio obtuvo su segundo campeonato de la NBA. Este año, los Spurs tuvieron un registro de 50-16, mismo récord que los Chicago Bulls. San Antonio tuvo una increíble segunda mitad de temporada. Desde el límites de traspasos, los Spurs ganaron 21 y perdieron sólo 3. 

El regreso de Stephen Jackson enriqueció más a una banca que le respondió muy bien. Jugadores como Green, Splitter y Leonard han tenido una temporada  muy buena. Además, el francés Tony Parker tuvo un año brillante teniendo 7,7 asistencias por partido, récord personal en una temporada para él. 

El último Entrenador del Año que pudo sacar campeón a su equipo fue justamente Popovich en 2003. Con la lesión de Derrick Rose en Chicago, San Antonio aparece como el mayor candidato, junto a Miami y Oklahoma.

Y otro encuentro cerrado entre Oklahoma City Thunder y Dallas Mavericks. Oklahoma se adelantó 2-0 con dos partidos vibrantes. Esta serie se va a ganar por pequeños detalles. Los Mavericks se deben sentir frustados de perder dos partidos que tuvieron cerca de llevarselos. Ahora la serie se muda al American Airlines Center, donde se enfrentaron dos veces esta temporada con una victoria por lado.

En el primer cuarto, Dallas y Oklahoma comenzaron sin sacarse ventajas. 7 puntos de Kendrick Perkins en los primeros minutos del partido. Por parte de Dallas el goleo era repartido. Con una carrera de 8-0, incluyendo un triple de Derek Fisher contra la chicharra, los Thunder ganaron el primero por 32-24.

Con 12 puntos en 3 minutos acercó a los Mavericks a 3 puntos (47-50). Luego un par de intervenciones de Durant lo dejaron a Oklahoma arriba 57-50. Nowitzki con 20 era el goleador de Dallas. En Oklahoma los líderes en anotación eran Russell Westbrook, con 15, y Durant con 14.

Durant estuvo errático durante el juego pero Oklahoma se las ingenió para sacar adelante un partido que se les fue complicando cuando se empezó a encender Nowitzki, que terminó con 31 puntos y fue el goleador de la noche. En Oklahoma, el goleador fue Westbrook con 29. Lo acompaño Durant con 26, con 5/17 en cancha (29,4%) y 14/16 en libres (87,5%). 
As in the first game, the last quarter was an incredible drama. While retaining the parity, Dallas was up on the scoreboard only twice in the fourth. Durant was erratic during the game but Oklahoma managed to pull out a game that got complicated when Nowitzki began to turn on. He finished with 31 points and was the scorer of the night. In Oklahoma, the top scorer was Westbrook with 29. He was accompanied by Durant with 26, with 5/17 of field-goal (29.4%) and 14/16 of free throws (87.5%).
